This medium sized deciduous shrub produces masses of scented rose - red racemes in spring. However, its 'distinctive' scent is not appreciated by all. Post flowering this shrub produces black berries. Position at back of border.

Cultivation tips: Ribes flourishes in all any fertile well drained soil - especially suitable for chalk, preferring a sunny aspect away from shade. A mulch in winter as well as pruning out old wood after flowering will help maintain shape and vigor.
