Possibly the most planted hedging species in the UK, Leylandii will form a quick as a flash impenetrable screen. However excessive growth and an ability to rob nutrients from the soil make it unsuitable for all but the largest of gardens.
Cultivation tips:
The much maligned leylandii is much planted for its ability to tolerate almost all soils dry or wet, alkaline or acid, and all climates. It does require at least half light however as almost constant pruning to keep in check.
