Tamarix has graceful filigree foliage and producing masses of delicate pink blossom in late summer. It is ideal as a screen in coastal locations and exposed areas where it is planted as an attractive and protective loose hedge.
Cultivation tips:
This large shrub is ideally suited to extreme maritime planting, preferring any decent soil - other than chalk - in full sun in an exposed coastal situation. This fast growing slender shrub requires pruning back hard in spring to keep a compact form, especially if exposed to coastal salt laden winds.
