Calamagrostis is grown for its autumn impact, when its dense upright green foliage sinesces to produce golden straw like foliage along with fine plumes of golden white flowers. This plant is grown for its vertical impact, with dense annual foliage providing an impressive winter screen. Plant alongside other grasses of within a mixed border.

Cultivation tips: Feather Reed requires a sheltered position in full sun, but will put up with part shade. This fast growing ornamental grass will tolerate most soils just as long as they are well drained - even poor sandy or chalky soils. Mulch every 2 - 3 years and be prepared to cut back invasive roots. Cut back last years growth in winter to encourage lush new foliage.
