Veronicastrum is well suited to planting in drifts where space allows, with tall multiple spikes of light pink through to peach coloured blossom bursting up to 1.5 metres, providing interest for several weeks in mid to late summer and also attract masses of nectar loving insects.
Cultivation tips:
This large upright herbaceous perennial is ideal at the back of a border where it provides masses of late summer colour. Veronicastrum requires moist but well drained soils to flourish and benefits from occasional winter mulching to increase soil fertility and moisture retention. Annually this plant needs cutting back to the ground annually and may require summer irrigation during drought conditions.
